Independent publishers gather for latest IPAC event

Independent publishers gathered for the latest IPAC networking event at the PPA’s headquarters in London.

Keynote speakers Ian Eckert, Project Director at Abacus and Jim Bilton, Managing Director of Wessenden Marketing addressed a packed audience.

Ian Eckert spoke on the difficulties publishers faced in aligning their print products with their online portfolio.

He also looked at the anatomy of an access control system for online content and ways in which publishers could better manage their online data and develop their digital audience.

Bilton presented findings from the Publishing Futures benchmarking survey jointly undertaken by the PPA and Wessenden Marketing.

From trends in ad revenue, copy sales to profitability and changing business models, the presentation explored the range of challenges modern publishers face in a rapidly changing environment.

“Print is still massively important for publishers, it is still the engine room and the main profit area of the industry,” said Bilton.“The industry is now on the up and facing the challenges ahead with a new spirit of experimentation.”
