New mobile sites for UBM

We are delighted to announce the launch of three mobile sites for UBM!

Our new mobile core templates, built on our Webvision core UI, have been used to create the mobile versions of Property Week, Building and BDonline which are now available on iPhone, Android and Blackberry.

“Your media business needs to go mobile – or get left behind” was the message from Google’s head of mobile for EMEA at a media conference in London recently.

Publishers are under pressure to think about their mobile strategy with more and more people choosing to view their sites using mobile devices. Research shows that at the end of 2010 the sales of smartphones outstripped those of PCs and laptops for the first time.

UBM still have full control of the navigation and layouts, just as they do on the desktop versions using our SPIN technology; this includes support for HTML blocks and XML feeds from third parties. The templates also support blogs, search, mobile advertising and pay-walled content.

The sites use device detection to re-direct the users to the mobile versions of the site. This takes into account individual stories, so if a user reaches the site through a specific URL they will be taken to the story rather than directed to the homepage.

The core mobile UI will give publishers new revenue stream opportunities from targeted advertising around content controlled by Webvision CMS, whilst offering their subscribers greater value from a focused mobile browsing experience.

UBM are really excited with the response so far.
